Chapter: 19/21
Pairing: Taemin/Reader
Notes: I’ve never been one to write long chapters, hence the ridiculous number of chapters in this story.
Summary: You discover how lonely life can be as the best friend of an idol.
Word Count: 559

You slipped into your dress-a raspberry red empire-waist dress with a straight skirt that ended just above your knees-and put on your black strappy heels. Your long hair was curled and pulled back into a half-up do and you sat down at your vanity to do your makeup. This is really it; the night you’ve been waiting for all year: your junior prom, you thought. Still, you wished Taemin could enjoy it with you.

After giving yourself dramatic smoky eyes and applying a thin coat of pale pink lip gloss you opened your jewellery box. You put on the treble clef earrings that Taemin gave you for your 13th birthday-“Save them for special days!” he always said about them-and clutched your necklace.

It’s definitely a special day, Taemin. It’s too bad you couldn’t be here for it…

The taxi honked and you grabbed your black clutch purse, making sure you had everything, before hurrying out the door. You made conversation with the driver as you drove to the school. He told you to have fun at your prom before you paid him and closed the door. As you walked into the school and through the halls, you were determined to enjoy the night, even without Taemin.

When you walked into the gym, you couldn’t even tell it was a gym. The gym was big, so it felt like being in a concert hall with the way it was decorated. The stage was set up, but at this point was empty. It wasn’t long until the principal took the stage and conducted the crowd’s attention.

“Good evening everyone. I think we’ve kept you waiting long enough, so I’d like to take a moment to introduce the live band for tonight. Please welcome…”

There was a drumroll before the members took the stage. You couldn’t help but hope the principal would say “SHINee.”

“Super Junior!”

The crowd screamed and cheered as the boys ran out on stage enthusiastically. As happy as you were to have Super Junior performing at your school, your heart sank a little.

“On that note, I’ll invite Super Junior to perform their first song. Have a good evening, everyone!”
“How’s everyone doing tonight?!” Leeteuk asked enthusiastically.

The crowd cheered in response.

“Right now we’re gonna rock this house with Rock This House!” Donghae exclaimed.

The crowd screamed as Super Junior started to sing. You managed to get a dance circle started and challenged just about everyone to a dance-off. You were the best dancer in the school, so why wouldn’t you? Besides, it was prom; it was just for fun.

“Are you guys ready to shake it up with Shake It Up?!” Eunhyuk asked.

By now, Ryeowook had seen you dancing and recognized you.

“Hey, I remember you! You were in our music video!” he said to the other members.
“Yeah, it was ________, right? Come shake it up on stage with us!” Siwon offered his hand and pulled you up on stage.

Your friends and classmates screamed for you. They were excited for you and many wished they could be in your position. Super Junior granted you the front of the stage to dance and everyone watched as you flew around the stage. It felt so natural to perform on a stage; you almost forgot that you were just a regular girl.
