Bean 5

Oct 23, 2011 13:26

1. Melo of the high tears and family griping drama sort ensued on Friday, resulting in no bean in the pot. And some feathers ruffled. (but not further if I can help it and put a stop to this nonsense). Which came to a few firm-making decisions.

2. That a boring-er routine has to be established, to withstand outside slings and arrows, and still keep bean-counting. Work cannot fall apart because the cruddier side of life keeps driving by-shooting the study.

Which led to making and keeping manageable habits level, in building discipline:

3. My love of gorging through books will have to be adjusted. I know that if I put of "fun" things (books) until the draft is done, things will looks so drab and lifeless, as the spikes of excitement have been pulled out. Then again, pondered on needing spikes of "exciting" books that I gorge and go reeling in 1-3 days. Not all lovely reading is about eating it all up in one sitting.

4. Ergo, to match the deliberate pace of writing (as sadly you cannot draft a novel in a week), shall switch to slow reading for the next few months.

5. Actually, am looking forward to savoring long, dense, lovely books I have piled up over the last few years.

5.5 On that note, Norman Rush's Mating is *_* wow. (devoted cultish fan, count me in)

100days, daily slog
