He was jolted awake, and for a split second he couldn’t figure out what was happening. There were screams of fear and pain around him, but it was dark, and he couldn’t see. He reached out blindly for something to hold onto, but even as he found something, it was jerked out of his hands. He felt someone’s arm holding onto him, making sure he was safe, but then he felt as if the world were turning, rolling over and over, and then he felt himself crashing against something glass, which gave way, and he landed hard on the pavement, rolling over and over, with no control until finally everything stopped. Then he saw lights and heard voices, but at the same time, everything was fuzzy and it felt like he was at the end of a long tunnel. Then he realized that people were calling his name, and he wanted to call out to them, but he didn’t have the energy. He wanted to sleep, and just keep sleeping. He was suddenly aware of someone kneeling next to him, holding his hand, and crying, praying that he‘d be ok. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t make his mouth work enough to form words. Then there was another person kneeling over him next to the first, and their faces came in and out of focus, Eunhyuk holding his hand, and Shindong checking his pulse.
Then the pain started to come in waves, and he could suddenly feel everything, and he started to scream, as though screaming would take the pain away. He tried to fight the people trying to get in on the stretcher, and someone was holding down his arms, someone else holding down his legs, and the pain wouldn’t stop. His screams grew louder, until he lost his voice, and they turned into sobs, and the tears wouldn’t stop.
Suddenly, he felt someone shaking him, and he cringed away from their hands as thought they would hurt him, and he heard the familiar voice calling him.
“Kyuhyun! Kyuhyun-ah, wake up!! It’s just a dream. Shh, it’s ok! It’s just a dream.”
He opened his eyes, finally, still sobbing, and held onto Sungmin as tight as he could.
“Shhh, it’s ok. I’m here. It’s just a dream.” Sungmin held him, helpless. Kyuhyun’s memories of the accident had plagued him for years, and the others felt as though there was nothing they could do. Kyuhyun had the same dream several nights a week, and none of the other members were used to it. Sungmin looked up at the door, where Ryeowook, Donghae, and Leeteuk stood, looking worried.
“It was bad tonight.” Ryeowook said, softly. Kyuhyun was still crying into Sungmin’s shoulder. “do you want us to stay?”
“No, it’s ok.” Sungmin said quietly. He could feel Kyuhyun starting to fall asleep again, and he prayed that Kyuhyun wouldn’t have the dream again. Twice in one night was just cruel. When Kyuhyun was finally peacefully asleep, it was almost 4 am, and Sungmin was wide awake. He wandered into the kitchen to get some water, and he found Leeteuk asleep on the couch.
“Hyung? You really shouldn’t sleep here. Your bed’s a much better place.” Sungmin shook him, and he woke up much more easily than usual.
“Sungmin-ah! Kyuhyun’s asleep?” Sungmin nodded. “Are you ok?” The leader asked, looking at his dongsaeng.
“Aigoo, I don’t know. It’s been over two years since the accident, and he’s still having that dream.”
“How do you know it’s the same dream?” Leeteuk asked.
“The screaming. It’s like he’s in serious pain, and it’s always the same. Hyung, how do we help him? I don’t know what to do and it’s killing me. It takes ages to wake him up, and then he doesn’t get enough rest, and he’s going to get sick, I know it.”
Leeteuk looked at Sungmin then, taking in the dark circles, and pale face, and said, “You know, he’s not the only who will get sick if they don’t get enough rest. Go sleep, Sungmin. You have a couple more hours still.”
“Yeah, ok, hyung. I’ll see you in the morning.”
Leeteuk watched him walk away, a slight smile on his face.

The next morning, as usual, Kyuhyun wasn’t in a good mood. Because of that nightmare, Kyuhyun was not a morning person, and it was frustrating to the others when he took it out on them. Heechul yelled at him to “knock it off, and go take a nap.” They all understood, and no one blamed him, but no one in Super Junior got much rest, and they were all tired.
Sungmin was sitting at a table at the photo shoot they were at that morning. He looked about ready to fall over, and Leeteuk was quick to notice.
“You should have tried to sleep last night. Let someone else make sure Kyuhyun’s ok when he sleeps for once.”
“Oh hi, Hyung. No, it’s ok. I don’t mind staying up with him.” Sungmin said, looking up and smiling.
Leeteuk sat down and leaned close, and said, “You should confess to him already.”
Sungmin snorted, and said, “And ruin all our careers? No thanks.” They’d had this conversation many times before.
“Sungmin-ah, I want you two to be happy.”
“We ARE happy! I’m happy with the way things are, and so is he.”
“Does he even know how you feel?” Leeteuk asked.
Before Sungmin could say anything, the PD called him for his turn to take pictures.

That night, everyone was exhausted. Both apartments were asleep in record time, but is wasn’t long before Kyuhyun’s tossing and turning from his dream started, and Sungmin was shaking him awake to stop him before he hurt himself.
Kyuhyun finally woke up, and Sungmin held him again until his sobs were quieted, and he could fall asleep again. Laying in bed after, Sungmin turned on his side, and watched the maknae sleep. “Maybe Leeteuk was right” he thought. “Maybe I should tell him how I feel.”
He rolled over, but as always, he couldn’t sleep. Kyuhyun’s dream was turning Sungmin into an insomniac. Even after Kyuhyun himself was calmed down and sleeping, Sungmin would lie awake for hours. He didn’t complain because there wouldn’t be a point, and he just drank caffeine and tried to get a nap in when he could. He felt that making sure Kyuhyun was ok was more important than his own health. But weeks and months of very little sleep was taking it’s tole on him. He didn’t want to say anything because he knew if he did, they’d make Kyuhyun move to another room, and he didn’t want hat to happen. But recently, he’d been having more health problems than the normal occasional colds, and he knew his lack of sleep was the main reason. The sad part was that, even as long as Kyuhyun had been having the dream, he’d never really woken up, so he still didn’t know it was Sungmin that was always there with him.

Kyuhyun continued to be in a bad mood for the next couple days, and Sungmin was always there to calm him down and try to make him feel better. But Kyuhyun was being immature and thoughtless, and he said, “Asih!! Hyung! I’m not a baby, so stop following me everywhere and making me feel like one!!”
Sungmin looked at him for a minute with a hurt expression, and walked away. Kyuhyun felt bad almost immediately, but shrugged, and turned back to the video game he’d been playing. He was focused on the screen so much that he didn’t realize there was someone else there until Ryeowook pushed Escape.
“YAH! What’d you do that for?”
“Because you’re being a jerk! Sungmin doesn’t sleep hardly at all cause he stays up most nights making sure you sleep well, and he’s exhausted, and he makes the rest of us be nice to you, and you treat him like an annoying dongsaeng! He’s your Hyung, and you should respect him.” Ryeowook was furious at how Kyuhyun was behaving.
Kyuhyun sat there for a minute, and then stood up and walked to the room he shared with Sungmin. He knocked on the door, and called the older man, but there wasn’t any answer. He opened the door, but the room was empty.
He went and checked the other rooms, and then called the other dorm to see if anyone knew where Sungmin would be, but no one had seen him. Back in his room, Kyuhyun called Sungmin’s phone, only to hear it buzzing on Sungmin’s desk.
“Where would he go without his phone…?” Kyuhyun wondered. Then he thought of something, and left the apartment quietly, noticing that Sungmin’s shoes were missing from next to the door. He took the stairs up to the roof, and pushed open the door, and he finally found Sungmin. He thought his hyung was sitting against the wall, thinking, but when he got closer, he realized that Sungmin was sleeping. He knelt next to Sungmin, and shook him gently, and said, “Hyung…you can’t sleep here. You’ll get sick!! Let’s go back downstairs so you can sleep in your own bed.”
Kyuhyun helped Sungmin inside, and into their room, and deposited him on his bed, but Sungmin grabbed his hand and pulled him down on the bed, too, pulling the blankets over both of them.
“Sungmin?” Kyuhyun asked, quietly. Sungmin’s only response was to snuggle closer to him with a sleepy sigh. “Hyung…?” Kyuhyun tried again. You’re probably not going to remember this, but I gotta tell you anyway. I’m sorry for how bad I’ve been acting lately, but it’s just…I have…well, I think sometime since I met you, I kinda…fell in love with you.” the last words were a whisper, only a confession for the two of them. There was a pregnant silence while Kyuhyun was determining whether or not Sungmin actually heard him, and then, to his shock, Sungmin whispered back, “I love you too, Kyuhyun-ah.”
