I have noticed that a decent amount of people on my f-list are Utena fans, and probably non f-list Utena fans stop by now and then.

I think that the movie is what the anime could have been minus quite a few subplots and miscellaneous characters. HOWEVER... I also think that without understanding the anime, the movie is nearly impossible to understand. (Nick's comment: "Do I have to be stoned to understand this, or is it just me?")
I also think the symbolism is more intense in the movie, where the anime kept it fairly subtle (but for the Shadow Girls) to help draw out the plot.
But that's just me.

1. The relationship between Utena and Anthy. Are they the same person? Friends? Lovers?
Soulmates. Whether there's a sexual element or not, I think, is up to the viewer (and personally, I feel there may be, but only... after? I don't think their relationship progressed enough to include that during the show). I think that Utena is the only one who has ever valued Anthy for herself and not for what she symbolizes or what she can achieve for her champion, and that's why she was able to save Anthy. That isn't to say that Anthy did nothing to save herself, but she had so many blockages that Utena was able to break through for her.
4. What is 'revolutionizing the world' in the context of the series?I think it meant different things to each character, but when it actually happened, I believe it sort of reset the world and made everything... the way it was "before", tempered by some events during the series. I think what a lot of the characters wanted was to make things like they were "before" - Saionji wanted Touga to be his ( ... )
