I am sooo tired. Today I came home from cabin-ing with friends, which was fun, but I seem to have returned with a cold, which is less fun.
Before I left I saw the Sweeney Todd movie, which had a few excellent bits but was overall on the disappointing side. This will not, of course, stop me from listening to Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman singing Pretty Women until the CD (which Papa gave me for Christmas) bursts into flames, of course. Depp's voice is not strong enough for Sweeney, in my opinion, but it is pleasant, and Rickman's is . . . well. Alan Rickman's voice. Anyway, I am still baffled at how we are supposed to believe that Anthony is a sailor when it looks as if a strong wind might break him in half, and still disappointed that Johnny Depp and Tim Burton seem to have decided Sweeney is a rock star or something, and still astonished at Helena Bonham-Carter's total lack of energy throughout most of the movie (I know she's a better actress than that, so wtf is up with this?) but, eh, whatever. I'm reading The String of Pearls (which I believe I got for last Christmas) now, which ought to be interesting.
Today I saw Juno, which was good. I'm too lazy to write up my thoughts on it properly right now, but Ellen Paige is adorable and manages to make dialogue which could have been just plain ridiculous sound right.
For Christmas Mama gave me 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, and I'm taking it as a challenge. It's tempting to try it in chronological order, but that would probably lead to giving up, since the really difficult to get through stuff would come first. The explanation of why to read Fanny Hill is basically that it has the most awesomely ridiculous sexual euphemisms ever. Anyway, I'll have to get started on that soon, seeing as it probably will take until I die.
