For some reason, despite my good intentions to do otherwise, I seldom actually write in here.
A good part of the reason why is my super busy schedule, I think.
I've been super busy at the school since I took on the mantle of staff master electrician. Not that the job itself is that time consuming, but since I have been in that position some other responsibilities have come along with it. For instance, since I am the only staff/faculty person within the department whose job involves lighting I end up teaching a bunch of lighting stuff. This year I have been teaching the lighting half of our beginning stage technology class. In addition to that I am teaching our advance stage lighting course. It is odd for me to be teaching not one, but two courses... not a place I ever really saw myself going. But now that I am here, I can say that I honestly enjoy teaching... to some degree. It is weird to talk for an hour and a half and have people write down what I say. It is also interesting, looking at quiz results and stuff to see what information various people within a class hold onto.
In addition to my job at the school I am also working for my adviser's performer flying effects company. Part time for now, but come summer, full time. It's kind of nice, because I am actually getting to use my degree a little bit. We got a contract with a large, well known company that does live action bible stories to install several systems that I am doing the electrical design for, which is really cool. Unfortunately it means I am significantly lacking on the spare time front, and I don't get nearly as much done around the house as I would like:)
