I feel a bit rundown today. I am not sure if it is from enduring a weekend of cold and murky weather that has continued into the week. I have slept well enough lately so it seems like the only factor that could have left my energy and spirits drained. Attendance at work today seemed lower than normal based on the uncommon ease at which I found parking on my lunch break so I do not believe that I am the only person that felt this way.
The weekend feels as though it went by even more quickly than usual. I decided not to allow the rainy weather to stop me from getting outdoors on Saturday. I finally used the ticket to the Yorktown Victory Center which I had purchased with my Jamestown admission last winter. I would have enjoyed it more in better weather, certainly, as it features outdoor recreations of a colonial farm and a fort as well as decent museum. I will have to return another day to enjoy it more fully. Still, I always have fun wandering through reconstructed history and enjoyed staring down a turkey and chickens that wandered freely around the farm. The highpoint was the demonstration of a brass cannon that I worried could be called off due to the rain. I awkwardly took pictures of the event with my camera next to my head so that I could simultaneously plug my ears with my fingers. Next time I go I will have to remember to bring earplugs. Much of what I saw serve as great visual reference for my continued reading of 1776.
On sunday my parents came over and brought their Nintendo Wii with them. It turns out that I do have enough room to wield the Wii controllers if I move my coffee table out of the way. The confines are still a bit cramped for bowling. I suppose that I could own one after all although it would probably not be as much fun to play on my own. My parents have each other to compete against but I would be on my own except for times that they might be inclined to come over and play. I managed to win on a full 18 holes of PGA golf which I feel pretty good about. Then I did my taxes and, as expected, find that I am getting a refund. I haven't decided whether I want to e-file yet, given the charge involved, but I had better decide soon.
That brings me to today. I really need to do some grocery shopping but I don't feel much like going out of my apartment in this weather. It can wait, I suppose. "History International" is running a few episodes of "Washington's Generals" so, given my current interest in the period, I will try to catch at least a few of them and maybe record the rest. Then it is off to bed in hopes that both the weather and my spirits improve tomorrow.
