i don't find static all that soothing, honestly. i'd like a fan-like noise, without having to have a fan on next to my face.

then i would have to make sure my speakers by my bed [i wouldn't ordinarily put them there] and the CD would run out after about 60 min. also don't have recording equipment. i appreciate the offering of alternatives, but as a life-long restless sleeper, i'm really ok with shelling out 50 bucks for a white noise machine as opposed to coming up with cheap jimmy-rigged options.
