A funny time of year

Good evening all
I do hope that everyone is doing well, I have had a rather nice day today. Nice because I have been pleasantly surprised by a mediocre to decent grade back for two pieces of work that are well and truly sh*te.

On other fronts the house is literally making me ill as the heating seems to be on near constantly and there is nothing I can do bar ensure it is on as low as possible - but it is leading to sleepless nights and then unproductive days as I cannot concentrate fully.

I should be off to meet Helen on thursday which should be wonderful but I must ensure that I am not giving off the incorrect impression to woman up norf else that will really cause me no end of trouble - wait it already is!

I teased you all with the idea that I was to be off to a SYNOD on Saturday, which I duly did. It was a fascinating experience in a lack of democracy and also in the current prospects for democracy and participation in the Methodist church. Also saw the Year of Prayer discussed and was shocked, appalled and upset by the fact that the whole idea for the area has been hi-jacked by Evangelicals which I abhore for their lack of acceptance of other worship styles and insisting on telling us that their way is THE way. This is the issue though, if prayer is meant to be a personal conversation etc between yourself and God then why the dickens are we told that what we do aren't worthy or whatever. It is some crap and it takes them to dish it out. Anywho, I have contacted my dad to ensure that some sensibility occurs when discussed Scotland wide and I suspect that will occur.

I am reading a wonderful book at the moment which is all about the diaries of people in the 1940s and 50s and it is part of the mass observation diaries kept, in effect like Ljs but from that time-period. Fascinating really. To see the impact of the introduction of the Welfare State, election of the Labour government and the effects of rationing and the end of warfare.......

Afraid no update on the Crossword front as I am two days behind now which is slightly fustrating - but here comes The Archers and then I think to the union bar to sit in the sunshine and work on my crosswords. a most marvelous way to end a rather F*U*N*K*Y day.

Take Care Y'all
John
