The truth behind pseudonyms can be very disappointing
Today I saw a book by the name of A Slice of Murder by Chris Cavender, which was touted as "A Pizza Lover's Mystery" on the cover along with a pepperoni pizza where the pepperoni was rearranged to form a skull shape. I can't count the times I've seen foodstuffs on mystery novel covers rearranged to form a skull. Oy.
Anyway, I flipped to the back and there was a brief bio of the author: "Chris Cavender is the pseudonym for an Agatha Award nominated author who has appeared on the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association national bestseller list nine times."
Oooh, now, this is interesting. A bestselling writer using a pseudonym. Who could it be? The possibilities were endless.
When I had a chance, I ran a Google search. It's Tim Myers, the king of the craft mystery, who already had published books under at least two other names I can think of.
Reminds me of when we used to get some kick-ass new historical mystery series in at the mystery bookstore, and we'd get all excited about a new talent, only to find out it was yet another pseudonym for P.C. Doherty.
