Routines

Feb 26, 2009 11:04

I have fallen into a routine. Unfortunately my routine does not include all things that need to get accomplished and so most days the routine breaks down at some point.

Here is my routine:

Get up stupid early, shower, get dressed and drive to work.
Somewhere on the beltway my eyes open up and I'm mostly awake.
Get breakfast at work, go to my cube, turn on my computers.
Eat breakfast while computers start up, fully wake up.
Work.
Talk to co-workers, work some more.
Lunch, work, leave for home.

Driving home takes an hour or so. I have done this trip so many times now though that it actually isn't horrid anymore. I just kinda endure it and its over sooner than I think. Singing in the car helps keep me awake.

When I get home, most days I change my clothes to get out of what I have been wearing all day. Then I catch up with Rebecca, play with Cora a bit and start to think about dinner.

Evenings are where the routine isn't as set. Cora likes to change things up every few days so that we cannot predict her. There are mini routines throughout the night though. Diaper changes are a routine, cleaning the kitchen and doing bottles is another routine.

Bedtime comes around 10 pm now. If I don't make that window I generally have a hard time getting up stupid early to start the next day's routine.

Basically I need either a longer day, less stuff to do during that day, or a shorter commute. Guess which one I can actually control?

::sigh::

I may have to start looking for a new job that is closer to home. Work isn't as rewarding as it once was. Don't get me wrong, I like getting paid. But the other benefits just aren't up to snuff. So if I'm going to work purely for money, why not do it closer to home?

Sorry for the random babble.
