Last night, as Mariko didn't get back until 20:00 we thought we'd go out for dinner. So we tried the Thai place at the top of the hill, whose window is plastered in Time Out good food guides, and budget eat recommendations.
At 20:30 on a Thursday it was bloody busy, and we were asked if we had a booking. But, we got seated in less than 10 minues, and our order was taken promptly.
Over an hour later, we had received no food at all - while the table next to us, who arrived at about the same time, had had two courses and were paying their bill.
During the whole time, the staff were studiously ignoring all attempts to catch their eyes.
Finally, at about 20:45, we asked where our food was, was told it'd be ready in 10 minutes, then someone else said it would be 15 minutes, so we grudgingly paid for our drinks and left.
I ran round to the supermarket, it was closed, so I ran to Budgens, got their just before it closed, went home, and cooked a quick dinner. Which I should have done in the first place.
I want my hour and a half back.
Avoid.
