New garden!
Hello all! This is my first entry in this community. I've just moved to a new house in Western Mass., not 5 miles from my old, and I'm ready to dig my first plot. The downside of our yard is we are located in a long-time agricultural area, notable for extensive and fairly old apple orchards and other produce. Currently, our yard abuts a hay field, and there is a fair amount of run- off from the nearby mountain range and hilly areas. I'm sure I can find someone through the university to test our soil...or is there another way to determine which, if any, pesticides etc. reside in our soil? Any thoughts?
