I've decided that I'm going to try to start making regular posts to my LJ again. This may have been self-evident to a certain degree, but I'm explicitly mentioning it so as to make clear that this is intended to be a sustained effort, not just a transitory spasm of posting. We'll see how well I do at keeping up with it.

So saith me, on January 6 of year. And the answer is, pretty darn well! If you take a look at the 2013 archive page, you'll see that there's an entry on every single day if 2013. (More than one on most, but that's just because I turned on the feature that automatically imports my Tweets.) Granted, some of those were art, poetry or video posts that required little effort on my part, and others were pieces I had already written for use elsewhere, which required little additional effort. Nevertheless, I'm pleased with myself for having kept up with it all year.

Will I continue making a daily post in 2014? I don't know. There were definitely days when I only posted something because I'd resolved to make a post every day, and I tend to think that there's not much point in doing something like this if you're not having fun doing it. On the other hand, I know from experience that if you go a few days without posting something, it's really easy to just continue not posting, so having a plan or a schedule would really help me from succumbing to inertia. I'll have to give it some thought.

Anyway, today being the last day of the year, I will be going to a movie. My local theater finally got around to posting a schedule for today's movies, and having checked the start times and the running lengths of the various options, I've decided to see American Hustle. Which is definitely a movie I'm interested in seeing, but I'm a little disappointed that I won't be able to see Frozen instead. It's frustrating, because the timing comes very close to working. If it was ten minutes longer, or started ten minutes later, it'd work, but as it is, I think there'd be a real risk of getting out of the theater before midnight, and we can't have that.

Speaking of frozen, I may be by the time the bus picks me up outside the theater after the movie. It's not predicted to be as cold then as it is today -- today's high is forecast to be 8°F, and it's currently 0°F in downtown Madison -- but I think it will be plenty cold. I think the timing works out so I won't have much of a wait, but it depends on how long the previews last. If they're as long as they were for Saving Mr. Banks, I should be able to walk out of the theater and onto the bus without having to stand at the bus stop more more than a few minutes. But just in case, maybe you could send some warm thoughts in my direction around 1:00 a.m. on New Year's Day.
