Hey everyone.
I had been talking to someone today about the issue of good and evil. This person with whom I was talking is a devout Christian, but with this person, it goes in to the anti-gay and anti-abortion issues.
Anyway, we were talking today and I was saying that I don’t believe in that bullshit about original sin and that kind of crap. We live in a world in which no one really takes any accountability for any bad actions they do these days. Some Christians are quick to blame their actions on sin or the devil, but they never want to humble themselves and just admit that they fucked up.
An example of this is when parents have little children that don’t follow the rules they set up, and the parents if they’re the type of Christian I’m talking about, then they’d say that that child is going in the direction of original sin.
That is such a load of shit that I almost want to not respond, but I will anyway. First of all, if you’re the type of parents who aren’t being consistent with your parenting and just telling your child no, but then at other times rewarding them to get them to stop throwing a fit, then there will be problems. You can’t be inconsistent with interacting with your children, and not expect there to be behavioral problems on the part of the child eventually!
When parents blame the original sin thing, then all that does is just prove my point. It gets them off the hook, it opens the door for mental and emotional abuse towards the child when the parents are talking that original sin shit, and it keeps the parents from having to take responsibility for their inconsistent parenting skills.
How would we keep this from happening? Well, it’s simple. Stop with all of the original sin shit! When you fuck up and do an action that has bad consequences for other people, admit that you fucked up and hold yourself accountable for your actions! Also, if you have children acting up because of bad parenting on your part, then admit you fucked up, hold yourself accountable and learn how to better teach your children! Don’t make them suffer and cause them to believe that they’re evil and shameful just because of your fucking up with bringing them up!
People unless they are sociopaths, are not bourn evil. This whole “The devil made me do it” load of shit doesn’t get anyone anything accept for a way out of learning from their mistakes and trying to better themselves as people. Good and evil are concepts, not some divine forces and you’ll either make the choice to do good, or to do evil and that’s all there is to it!
