I'm back

OK, so it's been a good while since I've posted anything, but I'm gonna try to get back into the habit. And with everything that's been happening lately I should have alot to post about.

First off, I'm going to start getting serious about sewing. Dad got me a sewing machine for Christmas and my first project didn't turn out too badly --> so when I go up to Mom's for Spring Break I'm gonna start working on other patterns for garb and such for SCA functions.
Classes are also going pretty well. My body conditioning class is a bit painful at times but if I utilize it well, then I may be able to lose some weight for that swimsuit. Philosophy is the class-that-shouldn't-be, and my Prof kinda freaks me out -- if you have me on FB then you know why.
The Geology Lab is pretty interesting and instead of double majoring now, b/c I don't want to deal with that course-load, I may come back for a second degree in that, after my first. My World Lit. class bugs me though, mostly b/c my teach. in there bothers me. He just acts really strangely: the way he speaks (or doesn't) and the way he moves are plain odd.
My Spanish course is pretty simple, though my classmates make even me cringe in class exercises. World History bores me, so I'm reading manga between copying notes from the screen and talking to my friend. BUT. My favorite class above all of them is Writers on Writing.
My Prof is amazing and the class is generally hilarious. Every Tue and Thurs I'm looking forward to it b/c we always have something to laugh about, and the class discussions get REALLY in depth.
Not to mention, I use that class for guinea pigs for my truffle recipes. I asked my Professor if I could b/c I know exactly when/where/about how many there will be, and she said it was okay on three conditions:
  1. I ok it with the class first
  2. I ask about possible allergies
  3. I give her the recipes I use/create
The idea of using the class occurred to me after the second day when I used my truffles as my prop to introduce myself to my fellow students. I got such a great reaction from them (I used the Hazelnut recipe from GAFilk) that I thought it would be a great idea to use them for my experiments. Not to mention, it would be great material for a research paper, don't ya think? It has all sorts of implications on the american lifestyle: sugar, caffiene, flavor --> just so many things it could apply to!
But, of course I gave conditions to the class as well:
  1. They absolutely have to show up on the days I bring them (not too difficult for them)
  2. They have to give me a response (basically a trade of a piece of paper with name/response for a truffle -- not too bad right?)
On the last batch (from Tue) I got one response that just made me lol: "I especially liked the candied thumb in the center."
Another reason I love the class is how random it is. We picked up a new student this past Thurs. He was coming to visit and sit-in on the class b/c two of his friends had told him how awesome it was (As it turns out, he knew about 7 people in there). So when he came to class he got really into the class discussions and the Prof asked if he wanted the class. He, of course, replied "yes" so she said "see me after class and I'll se what I can do to get you in." /sigh --> I LOVE that class.
I've figured out the espresso recipe, but, to perfect it, I need to get a spice grinder(?) to make the texture a little less grainy. The next one that I'm gonna try is a dark chocolate orange truffle. Hopefully by the end of the semester I'll have enough different recipes that I can bring something new/different to house-filks and GAFilk. Just call me the Truffle Lady (everyone over here does). lol
So if anyone has a recipe they'd like me to try/invent give me a shout: I'm all ears. I love to make people happy with my chocolatey skills. ^_^
