Have passport, will travel ...

So, let's talk travel. Before I moved to England, this map shows where I'd been. It looks rather sad on the face of it, but, considering the size of Canada and the US and the fact that I'd visited Vancouver, Victoria, Halifax, and Banff and various other assorted locations in Canada along with New Orleans, San Francisco, Chicago, Yosemite National Park and other locales in the U.S., I hadn't done too badly.

Then. I moved to England.

The map's gotten a lot busier. :D.

Of the countries and cities visited over the years, a few memories do stand out. I was utterly moved by La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. If you ever get a chance to visit, please do. It's not only a stunning building (still under construction), but there's something very moving and spiritual about it (and this coming from a very practical non-religious gal).

New Orleans. What an incredible city. Each street just seems veiled with history and ambiance. And Metairie Cemetery is a place unto itself.

Banff. If there was one place I could retire to happily, I think it would be Banff, Alberta, Canada. There's just something about this place: call it Mountain Magic, but it's a balm to the soul. Despite the hordes of tourists on the beaten paths, there's a calm to the area. I spent two weeks walking the trails of Banff many years ago and fell in love with the town and the mountains. I would love to go back.

But, there are still places to see! I've got New Zealand, Japan and China on the bucket list. And I continue to be keen to visit Egypt. And there might be a few more add-ons ;).

So where would you like to go? Or where would you recommend others visit?

travel, personal
