I've just rewatched the most recent episode of Glee, and I have to say ...
I am an unabashed Glee fan. Yes, the episodes vary in quality and there have been a few (well, more than a few) where I've just shaken my head and told myself, 'wait until next week'. But all in all, I adore the show and all of the characters. And despite the failings in the writing at times, there are moments which are utterly brilliant and just make you go, yes -- this is what North American telly -- actually telly around the world -- has been missing: a show which gives so many young teens a role model/relationship to look at when it comes to gay and straight relationships -- although they still have to address issues related to trans-gender relationships. Mayhap that too will be addressed.
As for this past week, it was the much awaited hiatus return starring Matt Bomer as Cooper Anderson -- big brother to Blaine. ::happy sigh::
I am a huge "White Collar" fan, so when I heard Matt was going to appear on Glee, I was more than happy. And what a magnificent performance it was. He obviously had a glorious time on set and from reading interviews, he and Darren formed a friendship quite quickly -- which I think shows in the episode. Bless him though. When it comes to singing and dancing, Darren Criss is not someone you want to be matched up against --unless you're Kurt (Chris Colfer) with your distinctive voice or Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.) with dancing skills galore. And considering Matt had less than 24 hours to memorize the choreography (per various published interviews), I think the boy done good. :D.
All in all, I loved it. I thought the energy behind the Duran Duran mash up was brilliant. Matt's acting -- as to be expected -- was marvellous. He played the comedic parts perfectly (that Master Acting class was brilliant!) and finished it off with a touching dramatic scene with Blaine after they ended their duet.
Speaking of which -- good goods people! That version of "Somebody I Used to Know"? I feel that I need to add it to my iPod very, very soon ... and on that note; tell me, somebody will use this for a music video -- soon?
