As muttered in an email recently, life at the moment is a little like juggling with tarantulas. Still, things are progressing faster than I hoped on the whole impending doom front :)
On the work front: contract signed; paperwork submitted for my employment visa; packers coming to survey all I own tomorrow; various on-call kit issues sorted or progressing (as I'll be on-call until I fly and as soon as I land); leaving drinks booked for the 16th ("Ouch", says James; "Ouch", says the wallet); flight prelimenarily booked for the evening of the 20th; temporary accomodation being sorted out; and obtained further clarification on my role and how it will progress. Still requiring progress: ensure London workstation is not borked when I go; and ensure I retain this mobile
On the personal front: engaged letting agents and sorted out a tenant; obtained permission for let from my mortgage lender; sorted safety certification for gas (and on Sunday for electricity); realtors engaged to start looking for long-term accomodation; started sorting all I own into luggage, air freight and surface freight piles; and cancelled the ADSL connection. Still requiring progress: unpack the remaining boxes from when I moved in six months ago; financial juggling between UK and Singaporean banks; in fact, sort out a Singaporean bank account; freecycling (hampered by needing to be around on a weekend); work out what I should do regards various censored/prohibited items (should they stay or should I sort out permits); refactor my relationship with the utilities companies; various change of address and mail forwarding antics; reclaim the unused portion of my season ticket; take a couple of dozen passport-sized photos; Be Well; and catch up with nearly everyone! I suspect there's a whole heap of things I've not yet thought of too
In other news, my soon-to-be-ex-Department was moved to offices across the road about two weeks ago and I am now getting eletric shocks off the doors, the vending machines and the security system in the new building. Shocking!
