[sigh]
So apparently, people just copy text off your live journal and post it on other sites. I guess I always knew you could, but it simply hadn't occurred to me that anyone would want to. This journal is really meant to be for me, and whoever stumbles across it. The LJ itself doesn't show up on Google, but the pasted text does, greatly increasing the risk that somebody who actually knows me could find it. Months later, that one little entry is still near the top of the search. (And of course I sound dumb! All the interesting, intelligent posts are at another URL. Clearly, somebody doesn't read the profiles!!!) Does anybody know if there's a way to prevent this (besides going private???)
