Goodbye

It's weird. I wouldn't have described WBCN as my favorite station. Heck, I didn't even really start listening to it until I got my first car three years ago, and could control all the radio presets. However, I would probably describe it as the most "consistent" of all the modern rock-type stations in Boston. It was certainly the station that myownwench and I listened to the most, especially once T&R moved to mornings and provided the mix of music and fun and not total douches or misogynists that I was looking for.

Last night the wife and I were driving home after having a drink with people from the dance studio, and we were listening to BCN because even in the eleventh hour they were still playing good music. Midnight rolls around just before we get home, and we hear a retrospective of people saying "you're listing to the rock of Boston." Then "Signing off," and static.

Neither of us were quite expecting that, since the new sports hub isn't coming on the air until Thursday. So we listened to a good minute or two of just static, and we both got a little verklempt. Finally we realized, that, yes, that was the end. It really got me bummed out. Even this morning I'm still upset enough to post about it, so that should really tell you something.

So goodbye WBCN. You will be missed.

And fuck you CBS radio for screwing with my radio presets!
