I'd think this would be best for minimalists and people direly in need of space.
You could either get rid of all your books and use the extra space that's been opened to you as workspace (which I'd like to do), or you can use the extra space for books! The bookshelf is nice so that you'll have a bunch of good night-time reads right there with you.
•flip the design: study above a sex friendly bed, with no inflated safety rail prices.
•'artificially' split an entire room: climb into a lofted bed level-- to hell with the fire marshal.
•build a kind of murphy bed partition (the whole of the unit not recessed) with a bed_side, two file folder cabinet/ storage sides, lighting or plants or whatever up top, a bottom further weighted by sets of items used in rotation {gym weights, office supplies, books...}, and a desk side with hinged shelf features so that it may all collapse to resemble a fancy (load bearing) wall when not in use.
These are genius ideas. I am leaning toward the first, which (even though I don't care for having sex anymore), would be good because it wouldn't rob my precious dog of her favorite place to be.
