Now that graduation is a little over a week away and around 80% of the engineering graduates have accepted job offers, the mud-slinging begins. On par with fifth graders bragging about the middle school they'll attend, this sad bunch is making sure everyone else knows how great their job and salary will be and (more importantly) how everyone else's job will suck. "Government is too boring and pays too little". "Defense contractors are too big and don't guarantee promotions". "Small firms can be bankrupt or outsourced in no time." "Staying in school to get your master's shows you can't make it in industry." No matter your decision, it's the wrong one. These people can't realize that there are pros and cons to each job, and some people might be better suited for a particular job than others. Some want nothing but money; some want vacation and travel; some want a cool-sounding job they can brag about; others want job security. No matter what your priority is, it's your job to point out that other people's priorities are wrong and to push your own. It's really a sight to see.
10 more days of this, then 3 weeks off to play, then the rest of my life begins.
