Wow, people are really letting the media drive them into a panic over this stuff. Here is some of what I've seen just in the short time I've been out this morning

I believe the duct tape is for taping tarps and such over windows or other items in the absence or in tandem with plywood. Not that it makes much sense, but if you remember a few years ago after 9/11 the Dept. of Homeland Security said that duct tape would save us from a biological weapons attack. Perhaps we are giving duct tape too little credit? Probably not

No way duct tape is going to hold onto a tarp that catches the wind, so the challenge of what duct tape is for in emergencies remains...
And yeah, I'd say the majority of people "gunning up" are doing it to protect property, not life. I wonder how many are psychologically prepared to kill for stuff. That's a pretty hard thing to sleep with the rest of your life--that someone will never breathe again or see their family because you didn't want to fill out some insurance paperwork.
Fortunately, the majority of these people will never even have an opportunity to use these weapons, much less use them with any effectiveness. More of what I was worried about was people who are not familiar with firearms injuring themselves or loved ones. For example, "I survived the Hurricane but accidentally gave my wife a load of buckshot center mass in a place where there is no medical help." That's the kind of thing that bothers me.
100 rounds of buckshot? I'm not an experienced gun shooter, but I even know that's a ridiculous amount.
Stop being a fat American. <--LMAO! I actually busted out laughing in the computer lab after reading that.
The absense of power is not the end of the world. <-- One of my favorite memories was when an ice storm hit my hometown and the electricity was out for hours. It forced my uncles, aunts, grandparents, 8 cousins, brother, and dad to have fun without power--it was the best domino game played under a hanging flashlight ever! We even were planning on building a fire to cook dinner on, but sadly the power returned. Moments without electricity aren't tragedies--they're exciting adventures! Suck it up, energy-zappers.
I don't recommend them only because if you are an idiot and set your house on fire you've sort of defeated the purpose... <--You're crackin' me up man.
For all you people leaving town, you will probably be to Dallas or further before you find a hotel room. <--Try as far as El Paso. Even all the hotels there
