Assholes in traffic
I work downtown (West 6th Street) and live just north of Parmer off of MoPac, so my daily route is to travel Mopac the whole way.
As I sit on MoPac every afternoon, I'm amazed at the number of people who will haul ass in the exit lanes, only to slam on their brakes, just prior to the exit and push their way back into traffic. This seems to happen over and over again. I've seen many near misses and have watched while the same car or truck does this each time an exit lane opens up. They gain maybe 10 - 15 car lengths each time. What I find even more incredulous is that when an exit lane isn't open, they just drive on the shoulder.
On days when work has been particularly rough, I've been guilty of moving halfway into the shoulder and cutting them off when I see them coming up. This gives me a small amount of satisfaction and totally pisses them off. It's good to have a big ass van sometimes. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
I'm tempted to lodge a complaint to the police about it, but that would only mean more cops sitting on MoPac and making everything even slower.
What I'd really like to do, is launch a big slimy ball of goo at their windshields as they pass me. I might have to come up with something like that. Not anything that will totally obstruct their view, but enough that they have to pull over to deal with it, while I pass them. Heh.
