My Thoughts: VP Debate to Tonight's Debate

Oct 07, 2008 23:51

Things have been hectic for me recently, and I haven't had a chance to throw my two cents in on what's been going on in the campaigns between the vp debate & the town hall debate tonight. So much has happened, from the "tie" in the VP debate because Sarah "Political Whore" Palin didn't run off the stage crying, from the bullshit she spewed the next day/going negative, from Obama's response, to tonight's debate. Lots to get to, so let's start the "Watch the FUCK Out" segment.

McCain's "Suspended Campaign," Bailout Failure, Letterman

I don't know if I threw in my two cents on McCain and the Bailout's failure, so before I go into the Debate to Debate, let's go there. I've never seen anyone overreact to old news as McCain did when he "suspended" his campaign to go to Washington and magically fix the economy with the bailout. First off, the Late Show fiasco. David Letterman is JUST in being pissed off at McCain, a man he honors so much, for McCain blowing off the show. He told Letterman that he had to fly to Washington at that moment to work with Congress to build the bill for the $700 Bailout. It was later discovered that he didn't catch a flight to Washington, but was a few buildings down preparing for an in-studio interview with Katie Couric!!! Oh it doesn't end there, he later gave a speech for the Clintons in New York before even stepping one foot in a plane to go to Washington. Letterman said it perfectly when he said "I have a question for ya...do you need a ride to the airport?"

Now to this "suspended" campaign bullshit. How can you say you suspended your campaign when you gave interviews, gave speeches at fundraisers, and continued to air ads attacking Obama??????? Stop saying you suspended your campaign, when we, people with reason and brains, know you didn't!

Oh, and when he did get to Washington, how did he do? The bill he "rushed" back to Washington to make failed! and 2/3 of his own party, the people he made calls to and pleaded with, shot the bill down!!!!!

Another bill in the Senate was passed, but it didn't give $700 billion, but only $810+ billion!!!!! And yes, Both McCain & Obama flew into Washington to vote yay to it.

But here's what gets me the most. The bailout will NOT help any homeowner. It's not $700 billion, but over $800 BILLION they're getting, out of OUR TAX DOLLARS!!! And here's the kicker....economists are now saying that even with that $800+ Billion, the economy will WORSEN!!!!!! On top of that, markets around the world NOSEDIVED!!!! Then again, when you think about it, McCain knows EVERYTHING about bailouts....and it's a BAILOUT, NOT A RESCUE! http://www.keatingeconomics.com

The Vice Presidential Debate

It was refreshing to see a civil debate between Joe Biden & Sarah Palin. Biden didn't run his mouth like normal, while Palin didn't run off the stage shitting in her skirt. And the moderator??? The McCain campaign didn't like her at first, and in the end neither did I. She had no control over the debate, she allowed the candidates to not answer the questions she posed to them, and she had to have been so bored that you could tell she WAS EATING CANDY WHILE POSING THE QUESTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES!!!

My criticisms of the candidates: Biden showed a lot of control, especially over Palin's "Genearl McClellan" mistake. Personally I wanted to see the Shark devour the Barracuda, but in the end I'm glad he didn't. Palin, on the other hand, didn't answer at least 85% of the questions, and even bluntly stated "I'm not going to answer that question, now allow me to talk about..." (or something to the extent...I don't have the text of the debate with me at the moment). That wink was pathethic, her folksy voice and talk annoyed the royal fuck out of me,... hell she did everything except rip off her shirt and dance on the pole. And the kicker...pundits out there said that it was a TIE! Yes, I'll give her credit, Palin did do a lot better than what I expected ("a lot" meaning more than running off the stage crying), and people just used that as the measuring stick of a vice-presidential candidate's performance When did we as Americans just accept someone just standing there talking off-point as a success??? So to just say the debate was a tie based on the fact Palin survived the Shark is lowering the bar to the ground. At least Biden answered all his questions!

The Next Day: Palin Brings Up Ayers, and later Wright.

The peaceful dream quickly came to an end the next day, when Palin decided to campaign for McCain as he got ready for round 2. She brought up a New York Times article that said Obama "pallin' around" with Ayers, the founder of Weather Underground, a 1960s freedom-fighter organization in America that "plotted to bomb the Pentagon. Sounds bad if I stopped there, but there's MUCH MORE to this. The very SAME ARTICLE Palin got this from clearly stated that Obama never joined Ayers' cause and felt no sympathy for his cause in the 60s, and that when Ayers' actions were questioned, Obama was 8 and his association to him--he lived in the same neighborhood as Ayers. Also Ayers was acquitted, rehabilitated, and now is a professor at the University of Chicago. And the other thing....this has been brought up before, and was DEBUNKIFIED by both left & right sources! It was a dead issue, but has people FALSELY calling Obama a "terrorist." Speaking of dead issues, she, the next day, tried to add Rev. Wright to the issue, and if you've been paying attention in the last several months, that issue was resolved and should not mean anything anymore. This is really sad...the attempt to change the topic from economics to this Swift-Boat smear (which it seems like that's all Republicans can do when they're down in the polls and have nothing left). No wonder someone in the McCain pool said "if we keep talking about economics we're going to lose." Yet poll after poll says that the economy is the biggest issue American's care about in this election.

Bottom Line: Sarah Palin brought up these issues, and let's face it, it's textbook Swift-Boat tactic...the lowest, most despicable, and most dishonorable act any campaign can ever do. And I can't believe that I'm going to end up calling a War HERO despicable and dishonorable, but he's responsible for her actions, therefore what she says he says, and he's defended her in this Swift-Boat attack, therefore, I'm saying it, John McCain, War Hero and all, is dishonorable and despicable!

As a side note, Palin says Obama's the one who's "pallin' around with terrorists???? No he's not, but I know someone who is...Sarah Palin! Watch the Special Comment from Keith Olbermann, posted below, and you'll see what I mean. This is a woman who PALLED AROUND WITH A MAN WHO WANTED ALASKA TO SECEDE FROM THE UNION...not to mention be prayed to by a witch doctor who has been proven to be a fraud!

Obama Fires Back: The Keating 5, Starring McCain

The Obama campaign learned something from John Kerry in 2004, to attack back after lame Swift-Boat attacks. Opening http://www.keatingeconomics.com, The Keating Five scandal was revisited...the same scandal that landed McCain in front of the Senate Ethics Committee, to which he was acquitted, but proven that he could have stopped the biggest financial failure, other than the $700...I mean $800+ Billion bailout. Now I know what you're saying, it's ok for Obama to bring up McCain's role, but McCain can't bring up Ayers & Wright, and I'd say you're damn right. Why? Obama's supposed associations with these men had NO effect on Americans, whereas McCain's acquitted wrongdoings ARE in Congressional record and DID affect Americans...for we had to pay for Lincoln Savings & Loan.

The Town Hall Debate

As I said, it's been a hectic week for me...I've been filling in for a coworker who's wife just died of lung cancer & blood clots, it's been a real emotional and physically trying time for me, and I had to work tonight, but had access to a tv. I missed the 1st part of the debate, but I caught a majority of it. I felt sorry for and a bit upset at Tom Brokaw, but at least he did try (not much, but did make an attempt) to control the boundaries preset by both campaigns. With that said, I believe Obama did very well, and McCain showed his true reckless, imbalanced side. Obama answered all of his questions, McCain followed Palin's suit and at times didn't answer one or two questions. McCain's actions towards Brokaw were offensive in my opinion...even interrupting Brokaw to make a one-liner that just wasn't appropriate. Then there's something that plagued McCain in the previous debate with Obama...the fact that he couldn't look at Obama at the debates. He took that snobbish attitude a step further tonight when he called Obama "That One." But my biggest McCain aggravation came when he said "there won't be another Cold War" when talking about Russia. I actually got up from my chair, yelled NO, and walked away when he said that. There are some, like me, who can tell you that in actually the Cold War is only dormant and hasn't really ended, and to hear him say that was just wrong. He goes around saying he knows about the international scene and that "I know how to deal with them..." and he says there won't be a Cold War revival??? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?????????????????

Ultimately, when it comes to the debates, it's Obama/Biden 3, McCain/Palin 0, and the polls are leaning towards Obama, now that they see the true McCain and a better, yet incomplete, picture of Palin.

Sarah Palin: Political Whore

As promised, I will explain why I call Palin the "Political Whore." First of all it's not because she's a woman. Let's face it, after what we've seen of her, she's clearly not ready to participate in the Federal level, she's not ready to be VP, at least in 2008, maybe 2012. But I think McCain knows this too. Yet he still keeps her up front, and continually making a fool out of herself and the McCain campaign because of her lack of knowledge and experience at the Federal level. It's almost like McCain is just pimping Palin out and trying to get every penny they can from her to save his currently-failing campaign, and that's not doing well. This is why I am calling her a Political Whore, because all of her works don't go to her, they go to McCain.
