The Edge of the World Isn't Wide Enough

I've just spent I don't know how long trying to catch up on everyone's LJ lives. I haven't even signed on in weeks...I've been completely consumed with Edmonton life because I am leaving it behind in less than a week. After much internal conflict and external beaurocracy, I am returning to Tucson to take a year-long AmeriCorps position at the International Rescue Committee refugee resettlement center. I was too scared to say anything for a while, because it didn't look like my paperwork would get processed in time, and I risked falling through an administrative crack. Details about my training and exact start date are still up in the air, but I think you can never get real certainty or efficiency in the intersection of NGO's and Gov't, so I'm just trying to roll with it. I should be landing in Tucson early August, so any Desert Dwellers please keep your eyes open for a good studio/guesthouse and used car, cuz I'm gonna need one of each!
Harder than any administrative glitches will be dealing with being broken up from Mike. We have had pretty much the best conversations possible about it, and we both think this is the right thing right now, but as we are both still in love it's going to be hard. I'm sure there will be many a future post about all that...but no point in trying to predict what will happen now. We want to live our independent lives, because we have to be free right now, and if in the future we meet up again...well...these things always get messy, but I don't think we want it any other way.

Anyway, I will be travelling until mid-July, but I look forward to catching up with everybody, and being a little bit more present!
