Questions from

1. Who do you want to win American Idol this year? Who should come in second? Why?
I don't really know who I want to win yet. Based on what I know of them as people, and their performance styles, I'd have to say John Stevens. Wouldn't mind seeing Lisa Leuschner win as a thumbing of the nose to everyone who says a pop star has to be a skinny blonde.
2. Pick one song you included on the mix CD you made for me and tell me why you chose it/how it relates to us. (And no, you're not allowed to pick "Can't Fight This Feeling" or the Dar Williams song or any other really obvious one, you cheater.)
I'm gonna kinda cheat on this one and explain that I tried to make the in more or less autobiographical order. So at the beginning is Great Big Sea's "Stumbling In," which reminded me of sending awkward e-mails back and forth, and at the end are songs like "For the Longest Time," "Power of Two" and "Bookends," which are more about hope for the future. (Though you can be on the left if you want.)
3. If you could change one thing about us, besides location, what would it be? (Yeah, I'm plagiarizing, deal.)
If I could somehow make it easier for each of us to see ourselves the way we see each other, I would. I think it'd make some things a lot easier.
4. You're a Gary Stu. What fandom do you insert yourself into? How do you affect the plot? What characters do you develop relationships with, and what sort of relationships are they?
I'd probably insert myself into Angel to stake that vamp from last week's episode before he could start in on his pointless flashback, do away with Knox and run off with Fred. Not sure what to do about Wesley, though, as he doesn't deserve the heartbreak.
5. Which books do you think every sci-fi/fantasy geek should read, and why? Which books should they avoid, and why?
I think every sci-fi geek should read an Alfred Bester novel (The Stars My Destination or The Demolished Man), if only to show that it's possible to have science fiction that's both literary and entertaining. I'd much prefer it if they all avoided the long serious post-Tolkien fantasy series - stuff like Raymond Feist or Robert Jordan - because they already take up too much space on bookstores' science fiction shelves.
