In response to my last post,
alias_elaina called Nice "...very money & showy." Its natural beauty aside and after 2 days here, I'm inclined to agree with Ms. Heidi.
While I adore the (window) shopping and haute couture here, Nice for me lacks local flavour. I can't help but think that if I were in Italy, the local folk would be more warm, genuine and accomodating. The French? Eh...comme ci, comme ca. (And I even speak French!)
Anyway, it's not all been doom and gloom. I spent a very lovely Sunday in the town of
Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. I took a tour of the
Fragonard parfumerie and spent more on scents than I'd like to admit. ;P I learnt that perfumes are best kept in aluminum packaging; the difference between eau du parfum and eau du toilette is alcohol content; observed the perfume-making process; found out there is only ONE perfume school in the world (and that's in Versailles) and and and...
My day in Grasse was followed by a business dinner meeting in Cannes. Cannes at sunset was breath-taking and my meal (scallops for starter and sea-bass for the main) was delicious. Oh, and the business wasn't shabby, either. Hee.
Today....today was the first full day of
MIP TV.
Now, I have been to a lot of content & programming conferences...but everything pales in comparison to MIP.
It's events like these that make my work so damn good.
Overhead today:
Wife to husband: You don't say merci like "mercy". It's like a female horse...y'know, "mare see."
Oh, mon dieu...
