TV -- I watch a lot.  I know.  Some of these probably won't last, but we'll see... The below may have very minor, tiny spoilers from premiere, but I promise I won't give anything important away ( Read more... )

(A) That's exactly how I described Journeyman. (B) The first two episodes of Reaper seem decent-ish. And (C) you stole my Cylon joke. ;)

The replicators in SGA are different from the replicators in SG1 -- they were created by the ancients and eventually achieved sentience (It's actually kind of reminiscent of the shoggoths from H.P. Lovecraft's Mountains of Madness, but knowing how much you love horror I'm betting that doesn't mean anything to you). SGA replicators dislike humans -- kind of a sibling rivalry thing, as they view themselves as the ill-favored children of the anicents -- and came into conflict with the Atlantis crew a handful of times last season. On one occasion they infested Weir with nanites in an attempt to get their Borg mojo working, which is what was referred to in the premiere.

The season finale last year had Earth nuking the replicator's 'home' planet from orbit to destroy a fleet of intergalactic warships; the replicators retaliated by launching a stargate-based weapon which the Atlantis crew attempted to escape by hypergating the city to a new planet. Obviously that plan sucked, which is where the season picks up and why I'm trying and failing to come up with decent Lost In Space jokes.

Explaining this has used up all my nerd points for the year, so you won't be hearing from me until January. Adieu!
