I don't really follow soccer much. But yesterday to show some support for the German team in the World Cup I threw together a quick look that I wore all day, even after they lost.
It comes down to, I've seen other people attempt something like this, and either they over blend the colors or they don't have the confidence to wear the colors in the order they are shown on the flag, since black up near the brow bone is less than flattering on a lot of people. Long story short, Yesterday I supported the World Cup and part of my heritage. And all is well with the the world. Pictures below the cut. They haven't been altered in anyway except...well... my eyes aren't really blue. XD And a slight description of how it was applied.
In this look a primer was applied to the whole lid. First, red eye shadow (Hot Topic) was brushed into the crease to form the middle stripe of the flag. A gold mineral powder was mixed with a liquid primer and then pressed below the red with a flat brush (I bought the gold shadow from Urban Groove in the Mall, and the Liquid primer is actually Graftobian Magic Set Mixing & Lining liquid I swear by I because once it's on it doesn't go anywhere, unfortunately it also likes to harden on your brushes making them unusable until after you've washed them). At this point I still haven't pulled the colors out to make the wings, That is done after the black is applied above the red. The black is carefully applied with a thick brush. You don't want it to go up into your brows, nor do you want it to blend with the red. (The black i used is Bellapierre Shimmer powder in Noir) After that is applied you start bringing out the wings, starting with the red, then gold, then black, and you're pretty much done. If you choose you can highlight your brow bone with a white shadow (I used Avalanche from MAC)
It's a simple look so long as you don't over blend
