I am so in the mood to cultivate the art of relaxation today!

I finished a book that I've always meant to finish reading AND which I am using in an essay for a class; I had fun with Theo as he snapped my photo numerous times with his phone-camera (without my permission). I went to the grocery store and bought veggies, curry paste and chocolate chip cookie dough.

It is warm and sunny and I have a nice warm coffee from Tim Horten's in my hand. I would love to just lay in my bed and snooze off and on throughout the day reading random magazines and listening to music. AHHHHHH.

Last last weekend I had my first biggish party. I am 26 years old.
Am I a prude?

It worked out splendidly, too, for it was co-hosted by myself and a chap who lives a few doors down from me on the same apartment floor.
And to top it off, it was KEG PARTY. That's right, with taps and everything. ALL you can drink, all night, for $10.

Considering how many people showed (About 25) and considering I only have a bachelor and neighbour Chris only has a one-bedroom, all went well. Chris lent me his bar stools, because I have a bar counter, and I converted my bed into a couch. Towards the end of the night, when the beer had run out, we did a poll and everyone seemed satisfied... no one seemed to lack in the booze department except for the hosts who still wanted to drink more.

I also had door prizes at my place. Door prizes are a great way to get rid of crap you no longer want and to entertain people for awhile. I gave away an orange lamp, a book about wine, the Twin Peaks soundtrack, a horror movie, a Relax Deck, and two books on tape. I wrapped them, got everyone to put their name in the draw, and made them dance while they opened the presents. People seemed overjoyed...presents do it every time.

By the end of the night truth or dare started as did spin the bottle. This frightened a few people off pretty quickly as they called cabs and went home (WTF?). The die-hards stuck around and I got to see this straight guy, who I had thought was very quiet and shy, passionately make out with Chris who was all nervous about the whole thing.

I partook in one kiss with a girl but the whole thing made me slightly uneasy cuz I didn't know how Theo would take it (but I was drunk enough to still wanna play). The most interesting turn in the evening was when Theo had his kiss. He swore he would never kiss a guy but low and behold... guess what? He smooched my special friend Chris! Afterwards, he told me that it was how he thought it would be: fairly unpleasant and strange...he didn't like the feeling of someone's elses' facial hair rubbing against his.

Again, I am 26, playing spin the bottle at my first biggish party, my first keg party. Was this stuff supposed to be done at an earlier age? Does it matter?

Anyway.. I am going to have to compromise between my fantasies and my realities today. I think I might lay on my bed, try NOT to nap and, instead of reading magazines, read school stuff (Mohanty's "Under Western Eyes" which assesses the "category" of the "Third World Woman" in feminism and in Post-colonial studies). La Dee Dah.

Hope everyone is having a sunny day of sorts.....
and I hope you had a chance to eat too much chocolate.

xoxo
