I've been in a book club for the past year, and we currently have some vacancies. We meet on the second Thursday of every month at a different member's house, and each meeting consists of a fairly lighthearted discussion about the previous month's book, accompanied by drinks and snacks, and we receive our new book. I would tentatively like to say I'd like to join the book club, though I am unsure if my working hours would make this difficult. Seeing as I start at 10pm I would often have to leave by 9:30ish. If that's not a problem then I'd like to know more.

We'd normally finish up at about 9:30-10, I'm sure it would be fine if you had to go at 9:30. Come along on Feb 9th if you like, and see what you think.

Cool. Ok, I'll come and check it out. I'm assuming it is on at your place? What time should I get there? Sounds like a lot of fun. My mother has been in a book club for years and often talks about the books she has been reading... so I guess it runs in the blood.

Change of plans: the number of people interested in joining > the number of vacancies, so it will be decided in some random manner at the first meeting who gets to join, and I'll let you know if you were successful. If you are, you can start next month.

Book clubbishness

That's cool. Will we all sit round in a circle and draw straws? Maybe a survivor type book quiz to decide who makes THE CUT!

As an idea you could start an LJ community for your bookclub, so that anyone can follow along with your thougths on the book. It could stimulate discussion with members.

So, how many guys have shown interest out of curiousity? I've recently been hanging with some people who are kinda arch-feminists, in a good way mind, and it's purely for the record. I like numbers...
