I had a 50 item blood test in November. I thought for sure I had hypothyroidism (the doctor was certain, too). Out of the 50, 19 are problems for me. 19!! My naturopath wanted to focus on the 4 major issues. He said taking care of those will help most of the others. No wonder I've been so miserable.
First major problem: Severe anemia. My ferritin level was 5. It should be 40-50. And that's WITH iron supplements (Floradix Iron + Herbs). He recommended taking 2.5 times my normal dosage. That got expensive fast. It's $26 for a bottle that lasts 2 weeks. With my increased dosage, a bottle only lasted 5 days. I'm on Hema-Plex tablets now - $11.50 for a month's supply! I feel better on these tablets than I did on Floradix.
Second is metabolic disorder. Basically, all the symptoms increase my risk for heart disease & diabetes. I have all the symptoms. High triglycerides, high fasting glucose & high blood pressure. The blood pressure is strange because I've had LOW blood pressure all my life, until 2011. I'm taking Adaptogen for this problem. I'm also taking Coro-Calm for heart palpitations (haven't had any today!) which seems to have brought my blood pressure down, too.
Third: Hypoglycemia. Abnormally low blood sugar. I've had to change my diet, cut down on carbs…it's been difficult but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Plus, I've lost 7 pounds! Another benefit of all this, my skin looks great! Still not perfect but much improved. The skin discoloration is fading & my skin is just more clear. YAY!
Now that I'm aware of my blood sugar I can prevent that awful feeling of being low.
Fourth: Zinc deficiency. Severe. I'm taking zinc supplements for this.
I'm also taking Molybdenum but I don't remember what for. I'm on vitamins A, E, D3 & K2. Probiotics. And…I think that's it.
I go back on the 25th, then have another blood test the week after that.
