Andy Warhol had two goals in becoming an artist.
1. to be rich
2. to be famous
And he did both.
His genius, regardless of his art, was that he dominated the scenes. He was involved in rock n roll, the underground drug culture, and the art world. Very different regions. People became celebrities by being affiliated with Andy Warhol, and that is serious power.
He did it without intimidating people, he just made his life a brand. His life was an entirely new invented era.
The day I stop idolizing Andy Warhol will be the day I've forgotten why I wanted to be an artist.
