(no subject)
Last night Brian and I went to The Engine Room because we wanted to hear some sweet live music and Bob Schneider was playing. I've always been told I should go see Bob at some point since he's such a big deal in Austin.
But I didn't know who else was playing, and low and behold when we got there I discovered the second band was Damesviolet. I was so excited when we got there because I used to like them a lot, but then they kind of went dormant for a while. They played some of their old stuff and it was awesome just because it brought back memories of like sophomore year, but their new stuff is pretty mediocre, and the singer uses the microphone as a phallic symbol like constantly.
The first band, Ashbury Keys was pretty awesome. And their keyboardist looks like Beck, so that's cool. I've been listening to a couple of their songs all day.
Unfortunately, Bob was not what I expected. I listened to some of his new stuff on the website and I liked it a lot, it sounds kind of like Jeff Klein (no, not Megan's brother). But in half stuff he played last night he apparently thought he was a rapper. Bob also likes to talk about his penis a lot, so that's kind of weird. I think he's just still trying to get over Sandra Bullock or something, but who knows?
