America will lose power as China and India become the new world superpowers. American society, unable to adapt to this shift in the political winds, will become increasingly beligerent towards other nations. The UN will take economic and political action against the US, further increasing our beligerence and weakening our position in the world. A nostalgic America will give up an increasing number of civil rights and allow more and more power to fall to the politicians in hope of regaining its former glory. Meanwhile, the rest of the world, progressively forming better unions in Europe and increasing general civil rights, will laugh at us. Someone in Washington will get stupid and pick a fight with a nation we can no longer win against. Open war will follow shortly, with the US badly defeated. Depending on the circumstances of the victory, this will either result in a foreign occuptapation of America with eventual splintering of the nation, or the Americans breaking out a nuclear weapon and the rest of the world bombing the living hell out of us before we get a chance to retaliate.
Either way, god will laugh.
