So I've been doing alot of thinking about the movie BLADE RUNNER.
There is a strong emphasis in the movie as to "what" a human is, so there is no real question as to whether Deckard is human or replicant, because the line becomes blurred. If Tyrell has been able to develop a Nexxus 7 or 8 line of replicants that outlive the four years, and they can implant memories into them, then they are human.
It gets wierd. Did the Tyrell corporation build a Deckard replicant? if so, where did the memories come from? We know that they can transfer memories from people into a replicant, so is there a "real" Deckard out there? It seems, to me anyway, that the movie kind of says that it is memories that make us what we are.
Is it our memories and experiences that make us human, or is it all the naturally occuring fleshy bits that make us human? Could we develop a machine that becomes so close to natural that there is virtually no difference?
