Updatey goodness

Welp, it's been about two weeks since I've posted anything about the going-ons in my life. Let's see...where to start?

Let's see, I finished crocheting a hat from the same yarn as my scarf. It looks good, but the pattern instructions sucked. I wound up with too many stitches around at the end. Bleh. Needless to say, on the journal page I noted that it overall sucked instruction-wise. I also joined a knitting/crochet online community called Ravelry.com. It's kinda like an online version of my journal and helps with finding knitting and crochet groups around the area. I found one that meets downtown at a coffee shop here in Moscow. I think I will be joining them on Monday night @ 7.

Oh last weekend, we (Dillon and I) buzzed up to Spokane for the last part of my birthday extravaganza. I got off work at noon, we boarded Wicket at the vet's and made the drive in the rainy, generally gross Northwest weather. Our hotel room was a decent walk from the performance hall that was the stage for Jason Mraz and his opening act, a kick ass Irish lass, Lisa Hannigan. The concert rocked. I didn't sit down once Mr. A-Z took the stage. We walked around downtown Spokane looking for a place to eat before the concert. I was hoping for the Olive Garden, but it was an hour wait. Luckily, we got into Red Robin right away. Their chicken ceaser wrap rocks if you ever get a chance, try it. After the concert we were looking for a bar along the downtown to get a quick drink and the Chili's was closed...at 10:30 on a FRIDAY night. We ended up going into a Mexican restaurant a few doors down. One yummy margarita in the 1/2 hour before they closed. The hotel was nice. It had a great view of the river and had a walking path that took us right to the arena/performance center. Downtown Spokane definitely rocks in comparison to the rest of Spokompton.

As for work, it still goes well, despite losing the registration person a couple of weeks before registration for spring classes opened. The University currently has a hiring freeze in play and we're not exactly able to hire someone to fill the position. Which is ok, as we're going to use this period as a test to restructure our little team. Which means that I'm going to get more responsibilities, tasks and training, along with a raise in pay. The overall plan is to find a way to make my supervisor's position more equal with whoever does the registration position and also to get some heavy cross-training in both the shipping and the registration aspects. I'm the guinea pig for the expectations of the registration position. I wouldn't be transitioned to the position after it's established, which is kind of a bummer, if someone that is a better fit and better qualified applies for the job when it opens in the summer. But for now I'm not really worried about my job. I signed on for this position knowing that it ends in May. Plus, I have a bit more experience now, so perhaps I might be able to find another job at the University if push comes to shove. But no sense worrying about such things now. I'm just going to go along for the ride.

Ta ta for now!

I'll post a pic of the hat later. Oh and I'm starting to get a scratchy throat.
