Little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay
Come into the world on a cold Christmas Day
Dear little baby, listen now as I pray
Please help me to be kind.
Kind to my family and kind to my friends
Kind to those people I don’t understand
Neighbors and strangers who might need a hand
Show me the way to be kind.
Little Lord Jesus, no crib for a bed
Bright angels surrounding your sweet baby head
I have no gift to bring - I ask you instead
Please help me to be fair.
Fair in my thoughts and fair in my deeds
Fair when I think I don’t get what I need
Open my heart to my own selfish greed
And show me the way to be fair.
Little Lord Jesus, the stars in the sky
Look down as you slumber with Mary close by
Child of Heaven, hear my soft cry
Please help me to show joy.
Joy for right now and joy for times past
Joy for the blessings that fill up my glass
For life overflowing with gifts unsurpassed.
Let me sing with thanksgiving and joy!
