Rin had never given much thought to Christmas before. It was simply another holiday and an excuse for commercial excess, that was all. The decorations and presents were nice enough, but she'd never really cared about the holiday, nor did she have anyone she particularly wanted to give presents to

Archer wondered what exactly Rin was planning. With Issei's help he managed to get her something that he hoped that she'd like. He was currently dressed in his release outfit with her gift tucked safely in his slacks pocket. He reached her room and opened the door.

Then simply stared for a moment before a smile crossed his face.

"Well, Merry Christmas, Rin," he said with a smile as he walked over to her.

There was something about the expression on his face that caused her to turn a shade of red to match the outfit she was wearing, though she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. It wasn't outwardly lecherous or anything of the sort, but it still sent a shiver down her spine and she wasn't sure how she felt about it.

"D-don't look at me like that," she stammered, trying to look annoyed and failing when she realized that she actually liked that look a great deal.

"I can't help it, it suits you," Archer said with a tiny smile as he closed the gap between them. He had his present in his pocket for her as well. He pulled out the small, red foil covered gift and held it towards her.

Archer smiled and said, "I hope it's too your tastes."

"Why, because it's red?" She knew quite well how much Archer liked that color on her; he was always saying that it looked striking with her hair and eyes. Sure, she'd been complimented by many boys in her time, but coming from Archer it just meant that much more. A part of her wanted to add "or because it's me?" However, she didn't really need to ask to know the answer to that.

Carefully she took the small wrapped box from Archer's hand, then paused, waiting for him to signal that it was all right for her to open it now.

Archer smiled and replied, "Well, it is your color." He nodded at her to open it, watching for her reaction. He silently hoped that he didn't go out of bounds with his present. He thought it fit her, just he hoped she didn't store mana in it.

"Just, please don't store mana in it," Archer said awkwardly as he watched her.

Once she received the nod to go ahead, she carefully unwrapped it, discarding the paper on the floor and opening the box. She'd guessed what it was as soon as the paper was off-- she'd even expected it to be red. She took it out and held it up to admire it, watching the light reflect off of the facets of the gem.

"Archer, it's beautiful..." she said softly, a smile spreading across her face. "Do you really think I'd store mana in something like this?"

"Well . . . I know how you don't like to waste things," Archer answered quietly, flushing a bit at the smile stretching across her face. He smiled back, pleased that she'd like it.

"I wouldn't consider wearing it to be wasting it at all. In fact, I'm sure it will cause quite a stir if any of the boys from school see me wearing it," she told him with a mischievous grin. "It will probably crush a whole lot of hopes."

"Then wear it proudly," Archer said with a grin as he slid it on her finger. Then he took her hand, lifted it to his lips and gave it a tiny kiss.
