(no subject)
So i have been exploring Americana folk music lately - if that's what it's called. I have been loving songs in harmony that are a little bluesy, a little gospel/spiritual or god help me i know this prob isn't politically correct but i don't what else to call them - slave songs. Bands like Wailin' Jennys and the Secret Sisters. Songs like "Didn't leave nobody but the baby" and "Long Time Travelin". something about sorrow and voices in harmony that i'm really likeing.
I'm thinking of using this sort of music for a soundtrack in my head for an AnK fan fic, feeling that many of the lyrics express the despair yet determination to go on of the residents of Ceres. Also of the human girl that is kidnapped and sold to an Elite. (yes my fanfic has het in it). But while i am loving the music, i can't quite picture the girl singing these songs in the posh ultra modern setting of the Eos tower. yet i kind of want her to, i want her to captivate her Blondie with her voice as well as her unbreakable spirit and later deep sorrow.
It's weird how i have to have a soundtrack in my head to write. it influences so much of the mood for the story. i'm just not sure this is it for this one.
