Went to a Halloween party last night at the home of a former co-worker. He and his wife used to have a party every Halloween before they adopted their daughter 6 years ago. Everyone from work used to go, and they were always full of people. They had one a couple of years ago, but not last year. This time only one other co-worker and I (and our spouses) came from work. I think he was pretty disappointed. Fortunately, friends of his wife came, too, so even though it wasn't as crowded as it used to be, at least they didn't go to all the trouble decorating for just 4 people. Anyway, I took the evening off from counting my WW points, and just enjoyed myself. Unfortunately, my stomach is no longer used to rich food, let alone rum punch, so I was sick immediately upon coming home and stripping out of my Shakespearean tavern wench costume. Just can't party like I did back in college anymore, which is probably for the best, as some of my friends from back then would probably agree (right jen?).;) Hubby got another wearing out of the Shakespeare outfit I made him about 5 years ago, although I updated it a bit with grommets and leather lacing up the sides to make it fit better. It and my wench outfit were some of my early sewing attempts, and I made both outfits way too big, so this week I cut them up a bit and gave them a makeover.
As for Phebe's Susan Pevensie costume, I need to buckle down and finish it today. I guess after we get back from the grocery store I'll chain myself to my sewing machine and put the football games on in my sewing room (tv muted with some 80s dance mix cds as background music). That's the only way I can finish. I got off track updateing our own costumes. Jen's suggestions are working great for the ellipses, so I can finish the sleeves first, then put the rest of it together. I do love Halloween, but I am always a bit relieved when it's over and done. It's such a frenzy to get done...one of these years I'll have to try to finish a bit earlier than the night before. :) Oh crap, I just remembered today we are getting our pumpkins and carving them! I better jump in the shower so I can start my day, it looks like a busy one!
