Yes its been awhile, I just haven't had anything to say really.
I was helping my son with his homework a couple of days ago when he asked me "how old do I have to be to have a girlfriend?"
My reply.... "Um... Um...." flabbergasted would be an understatement. "Older, much older. Why do you want to know?" This is my baby. My seven year old, soon-to-be eight year old, only child baby. I don't want to deal with this, not yet... or how about never.
"C.... and D.... (two of his friends) have girlfriends. How old do I have to be?"
"You're not old enough yet, sixteen is a good age."
"Why can't I have one? C... and D.... do, but the girls don't like them."
I then was stuck. How was I to explain that a girlfriend was not a girlfriend if she doesn't like you, all without bursting out laughing. It was difficult, really difficult.
I think I got my point across but who knows.... I do know that when I went outside to sit with my hubby and friend while they were smoking, while my son finished his homework, and repeated the conversation...
