ok, so i'm guilty of watching e! news live today... and i come to find that tara connor, the new miss usa, is now entering rehab because she was drinking underage. There was a debate over whether she would be able to retain her crown after the drunken incident, but Donald Trump decided she could keep it, as long as she apologized and entered rehab.
I think this whole thing is utterly ridiculous. Most 20 year olds drink, even though they are underage, and many of them go to bars too. She's 20! She's in a New York for the first time, she just won Miss USA, and is out celebrating, give the girl a break. Seriously, look at the rest of the celebrities her age that are supposed to be Role Models-- Lindsay Lohan! She's been publicly intoxicated many times.
And beside this, more importantly, what is her BODY saying as a role model American girl?! That you're only beautiful if you look emaciated and have fake boobs? come on!! I think her body image as a role model is MUCH more destructive to young girls looking up to her than her being drunk is. And people wonder why so many girls have eating disorders.
I dont know, maybe I'm just jealous, but I think this goes beyond jealousy with me. Lately I've been looking at myself in the mirror and thinking I'm way too fat, but then I realize, I'm at an average healthy weight for my age and height. But seeing images like this of what i SHOULD look like, is not helping my self esteem. And I'm twenty-two! Imagine what kind of damage this does to younger girls.
