you can't choose what stays and what fades away

What's that, a fairly large recap is called for? Why, so it is. I've been busy like mad lately, wrapping up grades for my students and my own semesters-end assignments, and there have also been Things Going On ( Read more... )

Ah, cousin, I am glad you have been enjoying yourself and spending time with your family. We all know the importance of family, do we not ( ... )

Family is indeed of the utmost importance. I shall cross my fingers that you one day get to enjoy Florence+the Machine - it was a fantastic show, and she's very gracious and compelling onstage.

I think Loki would be just as intriguing as a woman - I almost want to see Tom Hiddleston give it a try. Perhaps in Thor 2? I suspect, though, that his appeal would be somewhat diminished as a horse, so here's to hoping they give that particular myth a pass.

Robert Downey Jr. It is always his fault.
This. Oh, this, so much. I want to quote, like, every single line of his from the movie. He is fantastic and I want to take him out drinking.

if there is anything you wish to know about Judaism, you are welcome to ask me as wellEverything. I want to know everything about everything, ever. Most of my questions for them centered around why they converted - Meg was Unitarian and Robert was non-religious, so it was a pretty dramatic change, and I had never heard either of them express any particular interest in Judaism before. But really, I want to ( ... )

Thank you so much for this! I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say that there is nothing more fun to me than finding out new things, and I can study a religion all I want, but that's nothing to talking to someone for whom it moves beyond knowledge and into spirit. There's every possibility I'll end up with eleven thousand questions about specific things, so feel free at any point to tell me you're tired of being interrogated ^^;;

Keep asking; it is the Jewish way. And if I get tired (which I doubt), I will say so; but I have developed my stamina over hundreds of pages of Talmud, and many other questions, so I do not think that will happen.

I will never be able to learn everything about Judaism, and I have quite a head start on you; but it is this desire that is considered an essential part of Judaism, so it's a good start. So; if you have anything you wish to know, again, you have but to ask.

No need to apologize; I have no gold clothing either. But if gold and black are our colors, black and blue is our coloring, and the 'unofficial' colors of our House. And of course, they represent quite a lot of our selves, as well as some of our other Houses. I am sure you looked radiant. But i still wish to actually hear it, one day.

Though I already wrote this to you, I feel I must reiterate that there is no shame in doing what needs to be done and having proper priories. In any case, I will eagerly await any of your replies, and as always, you have all my love, dearest.

I want to know everything about everything, lol. No one seems to really believe me when I say that, but I really don't recall ever being bored when I was genuinely learning, even if I was learning something entirely irrelevant to my needs and my extant interests.

I'm asking my parents if either of them can record the reading I do at our graduate banquet next Sunday. Cross your fingers, I suppose ^^

Well, that is a classic Jewish attitude. And the only way to find out is ask and argue. So I believe you; it is a family trait, no doubt, since I feel the same way. Boredom only applies when you do not want to learn. And of course, we do want to know everything - both for the knowledge and for the power (at least for me).

I will not cross my fingers, I think; or rather, I will metaphorically do so. That's another instance of Jewish law intervening - many say it is a Christian gesture during prayer, and so should not be done by Jews. So instead, I will pray (or daven, as we say). Best of luck (to us all), and all my love, coz.
