I'm praying for rain; I'm praying for tidal waves

(re subject line: It's song lyrics. I don't need to wish for rain when we're getting absurd amounts of it without my intercession.)

I don't update a lot; I know. I'm trying to keep it to at least monthly.

Teaching is going well - I have three or four students responding really well, more than half at least acting like they care, and very few who look bored/mentally checked out. The real test will be the homework they're turning in Wednesday, as that will show me whether the work we're doing is helping them improve at all.

My own classes are fairly easy as far as doing the work each week goes. The trick will be the giant assignments that sneak up - all together, three short stories, two short papers, one giant paper.

I've got a stack of things to do to prepare for my comps. I've also got a stack of things to do for myself. Neither stack is getting significantly smaller ^^;

Rob moved out of the apartment and back in with his parents to save up for an eventual move to Europe for culinary school. I'll miss him being around, but I'm super excited to have a whole apartment for just me and Kevin. And the best part is, I get a library now! We (Kevin and I) moved our bedroom into the other room (Rob's room) and turned what used to be our bedroom into a library/study/my own personal room. I say it's mine not because Kevin won't ever be in it (although generally speaking he won't, and we knew this when we set it up) but because my dresser, cedar chest, and clothes are staying in it. Since both rooms have a closet, we're each getting our own, and moving my impressively large and heavy dresser is highly impractical. So this is essentially going to be my room - Kevin even gave me free rein to decorate it as I see fit, meaning there are currently fairies and kitties on the walls, as well as the FFXII poster Teresa had framed for me. It's going to be a fantastic room when it's done :D
