Homework for the first week of school: 91 page reading assignment, 3-5 page essay, 3ish page other essay/meditation/ramble about my poetics, draft of a new poem. Yeah, I can totally do that (hint: no I cannot. WTF kind of assignment schedule is this).
In promising news, Kay says we're not doing the giant forms paper that I did last year with her, so that's one 20 page paper I won't have to write. I looked through the syllabus for my Intro to Comp class, and it doesn't look horrible, just lots of little things, oral presentations and such. I need to get a binder cleaned out for this semester so I can at least pretend to be organized for a little while. I also need to write the poem that is due to be posted online tonight. I don't even have a complete draft yet.
Some people are contemplating visiting for Mardi Gras, my friends and Kevin's friends. Plans aren't totally finalized yet, but I'm sure looking forward to the holiday - except that UNO combined Mardi Gras break into Spring Break. So somehow I'm supposed to go from March 9th to May 20th with no break :( I CAN'T DO TWO AND A THIRD MONTHS OF SCHOOL NONSTOP; WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE, A GOOD STUDENT? *frustrated*
I know it looks ridiculous written out like that, but Mardi Gras (Tuesday) and the day before it (Monday) are also school holidays down here; I'm not actually sure it's possible to get to campus without running through a parade route. And then somewhere between three and six weeks later (because the date of Mardi Gras is based on Easter, which is based on the lunar calendar and thus moves around a bit) we had Spring Break, just in time to race through our final projects. But noooo, this year we only get one week and we're somehow supposed to split it between debauchery and homework. Or something. I don't like it -.-
