what is the light that you have shining all around you?
Shreveport: dinner with Mom at the restaurant where Rachel works, some Christmas presents (yay Walmart giftcards). Visiting Dad and Joan. Telling them I'm contemplating taking some time off after grad school, either working at the bookstore or traveling a bit or something to get me out of the scholastic/academic world for a little while.
Oklahoma City: the drive was a little ridiculous, as we passed things like a giant cow statue, dozens of signs saying "don't drive into smoke" with no context, and "Jesus" spelled out in white rocks on a mountainside. Googlemaps kept trying to direct us down a street that was closed for construction, but we thwarted them by parking near the convention center and walking from there 8)
the New Years FreakOut: AMAZING. There are no words. The world's biggest mirror-ball, the world's largest balloon drop, confetti cannons, kissing Kevin at midnight and having him tell me that no matter what problems we have, we'll work it out because "you're the most important thing in the world to me".
Shreveport (again): grocery shopping (again, yay giftcards). Wine at Rachel's (for me, not her). Having Freddie come over, hanging out, going to sleep. Waking up with my feet numb because Rachel's heater doesn't heat downstairs very well. Packing up, driving home.
New Orleans: I have groceries. I have internet and cell phone access reliably, unlike in the wilds of Oklahoma. I have Kevin, and we spent last night relaxing and watching the Fifth Element. I have love, the best of all possible things <3
