So far...the Bay Area stinks for job availability. Anyway I have only
applied for one reporter position so far because it is the only
position I am qualified for in this area (or I feel I am qualified
for). Really it is the only reporter position I am qualified for that doesn't require an hour and a half commute.
Well I sent in the application last Wednesday and I just called to see
if the Editor had recieved my application and if the position was still
open. He had it on his desk and I guess the call was a good thing
because it got him to give it another look over and possibly bring the
application to the top of the stack (though it didn't seem like a huge
stack). Anyway he was really friendly and I was pleased that he wasn't
irritated that I made a follow up call about the job (sometimes
newsrooms can be really fast paced and stressful and the last thing you
want to do is annoy the Editor at a bad time). I'm also glad I called
when I did because it manifests that I know how a newsroom works, the
least stressful time is the morning at the beginning of the week. So
anyway the Editor just said that they have just started reviewing the
resumes and that they will start setting up interviews sometime soon,
and I told him I would be interested in an interview when they were
ready.
Anyway keep your fingers crossed or say your prayers for me, I would
really appreciate it. I really can't take B&N for the rest of my
life and there aren't anymore reporter positions posted currently.
